Crowns and Bridges

Dental crowns and bridges are all used restore your smile. Crowns are used when your natural tooth is still in place to protect and cover a tooth that is damaged or irregular. This allows patients to maintain a natural smile. Dental bridges replace missing teeth. They can restore chewing function, enhance your appearance, and improve your oral health.

Dental Crowns

Dental crowns allow you to achieve a stronger smile that still looks natural, regardless of damaged teeth. They are typically made out of porcelain which looks identical to natural teeth. Because porcelain reflects light in much the same way your natural teeth do, it is next to impossible to tell the difference between your teeth and your crowns. Dental crowns are used to cover teeth with a variety of issues including teeth that are:
• Broken
• Contain large fillings
• Discolored
• Experience decay
• Misshapen
• Worn down

A dental crown is effectively a prosthetic that fits over a visible part of your tooth. This mimics the shape and size of your original tooth while strengthening and removing damage.

Dental Bridge Restorations

A dental bridge will “bridge” the gap of a missing tooth or row of missing teeth. As implied by the name, this appliance literally “bridges the gap” in your smile. Dentists are able to create custom bridges that match the shade of your natural teeth. The denture is made up of different parts:

Abutments are the natural teeth that support your dental bridge.

Pontics are the replacement teeth that fill in the empty space left by missing teeth.

The Premier Dental Process:

  1. Consultation & Examination: Dr. Rodriguez conducts a detailed evaluation to determine the suitability of crowns or bridges for your dental needs.

  2. Tooth Preparation: For crowns, the tooth is reshaped. For bridges, the supporting teeth are prepared.

  3. Digital Scan: Digital scans are taken, ensuring the lab crafts restorations that fit impeccably.

  4. Placement: Once fabricated, the crown or bridge is cemented (seated) into place.
